Later this week will mark the second part of the URB Alt Festival, as well as the start of the Afro-punk Festival.  To mark the start of AP, I'll be talking with Walt Chastang of The 54.  While you may remember them from the "Domination" video, you'll get a chance to see them live on Saturday, June 26.  So, I'm thrilled to get a few minutes to talk with Walt, who handles guitar duties in the band.  He'll be on the air around 930pm.

As ever, the Tuesday night WRFB broadcast schedule looks a
little somethin' like this:

So, in addition to URB Alt 2010, Afro-punk is also happening in June. Wow.  Two-and-a-half days of music, skating and BMX biking.

Here's the music lineup on Saturday, June 26:

• Bad Brains, Game Rebellion, P.O.S., Ninjasonik, Belikos, Activator, The 54, Cipher

The lineup for Sunday, June 27:

• 24-7 Spyz, The Cool Kids, J*DaVeY,
  Street Sweeper Social Club, Martin Luther, The
  Memorials, Bad Rabbits

Both days, the music runs from 1pm – 9pm.  This year, the festival takes place at Commodore Barry Park, not Fort Greene Park as it's been in years past.

Tickets need to be purchased here. Single day passes are $20.

More info on the NYC show is here.  I've heard that there are plans to take the fest to Atlanta and Chicago later this summer.  Stay tuned.

Hat's off to Afro-Punk for putting together a 20-city tour headlining the bombastic wordsmith and performer Saul Williams.  CX Kidtronik will be bringing his Krak Attack to the decks to all the dates. The other acts on the bill constitute a dynamic and changing roster of hard-hitting bands such as:
