Yep, it’s that time of year! The 2014 Afropunk Festival is set for August 23-24 in Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park. According to the AP site, here’s what you can expect:
On its 10th year anniversary, AFROPUNK FEST is in effect stronger and with more style than ever. AFROPUNK Fest features 4 stages of music including the more traditional heavy/punk Black Stage and Speaker’s corner where the politically minded can speak theirs, a slew of Food Trucks making a variety of cuisine, the Spin Thrift Market with it’s 100 vendors selling various goods and crafts, and the ever present Art Wall where selected visual artists produce original works of art within the park grounds.
Nice, too, to see the fest make explict its desire for the event to be all about PLUR:
NO: SEXISM, RACISM, ABELISM, HOMOPHOBIA, FATPHOBIA,
