LISTENING POST: Kokayi/CZRS — “Leave Me Alone”

Another one to file under the "good people with real talent" category

Always good to know there’s new music from DMV resident and Grammy-nominated MC, producer and educator Kokayi and his punk/hip hop/rock/”psychodisco” entity known as CZRS (formerly TheCaesarz).  You may remember them from their Afropunk Fest 2008 appearance, or their inclusion on our first compilation Fire In The Dark (still available for a free download via, or from last year’s banger “Roxtar”.

Deal is, this song, along with “Wayyts” (which is a meditation on the deaths of Trayvon Martin and Amadou Diallo), are the first offering from the new CZRS project–Pro Deo Patria–that will be released later this summer.
