VIDEO: Gregory Porter — “Be Good (Lion’s Song)

If you don't know Gregory Porter, you should get familiar with one of the brightest rising jazz voices on the scene.

@I_gregoryporter

It just takes time, but great voices always emerge.  Case in point is Gregory Porter who, along with Jose James, count as two of the most exciting young male jazz voices out there today.  Porter’s voice is a rich, warm baritone and in it you can hear the jazz, blues and soul influences of his youth.  His sophomore album, also titled Be Good, dropped back in February.  Though he lives in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, he spends a lot of time on the road.  It’s just the fact of the demand he’s in because of the esteem that so many hold him in.  See him when you can.

The video for the title song is whimsical and touching.  It’s a fresh take on what is really an old story: A guy’s trying to get a beautiful woman to notice him.

“Cause she knows what she does when she dances ’round my cage.”

Indeed.

    Love, Luv, L-O-V-E this video! (& Porter’s song is good too) (smile) Doubt I’ll get a chance to see him in the hell hole city I live in, but should the opportunity arise elsewhere, I’m there.
