LISTENING POST: Jaimz Deen — “This Pill”

Get familiar with the message-driven dark pop of Jaimz Deen

Brooklyn-by-way-of-South-Philly’s Jaimz Deen is a creator of message-driven dark pop.  This song is taken from his mini-album, The Crisis Complex, on which he attempts to make sense of his upbringing during the Philly crack epidemic.  “This Pill” comes right after he’s seen a child killed by random gunfire, as is recounted in the song that precedes it, “Shutdown”.

Nice to note that The Crisis Complex is a collaborative effort between Jaimz and the group formerly known as The Five One, now called RDGLDGRN.  Guitar work on this song is courtesy of the band’s Red.
