The Pittsburgh art rocker changes direction on us


Some of you may remember Christiane (above in a photo by Adam Blai) as the frontwoman of Pittsburgh art rockers Soma Mestizo.  Continuing in her evolution as an artist, she’s now about to release a solo album, Obliquity of the Ecliptic, on February 28.  Despite the name, the the album shows that she’s reined in some of the more oblique edges that were present in the Soma Mestizo project.  This is much more a jazz-inflected, punk soul album. Yeah, wrap your head around that.

More on this project closer to the release date.  In the meantime, check out the video here, which showcases her warm voice against a slide guitar-driven, bluesy track:
