LISTENING POST: Tony Jarvis — "Mother's Song"

Happy Mother’s Day, all!

I pulled this from the archives, literally.  Back in the mid- to late-90s, I met Tony Jarvis.  I was in the process of launching an artist management company and was scouting talent.  And he had it in spades: Handsome, warm voiced,  good songwriter and solid stage presence.  Nice guy, too.  Unfortunately, we were never able to come to terms, and we lost touch soon thereafter.

But one of the things I got out of the whole experience was his demo CD, Prasad, the title of which has a variety of meanings: Gift, generosity, temple, you get the idea.  Anyway, “Mother’s Song” continues to be one of my favorite songs.  It’s heartfelt, and I recall this was always a great end his sets.  In fact, he’d often do it acoustically.

Anyway, I haven’t been in touch with him in, what, 15 years.  Whatever he is, I wish him well.  Thanks for a great song, Tony!

Enjoy!
