MASHUP: Shaolin Jazz: The 37th Chamber

What happens when Wu-Tang meets some jazz giants? Find out for yourself.

Just released today.  Features the Wu-Tang Clam mashed up with Ahmad Jamal, Lonnie Liston Smith, Bobbi Humphrey, Herbie Hancock and others. Here’s the official description:

SHAOLIN JAZZ: The 37th Chamber, the brainchild of Gerald Watson and DJ 2-Tone Jones, is a specialty mixtape project that has 2-Tone artfully blending various acapellas from the catalog of one of the most iconic Hip-Hop groups along with Jazz and Jazz-inspired music.

The project is an extension of Watson’s The Classics Album Cover Art Exhibitions which were a series of art shows that featured various album covers from target genres of music such as rap, rock, soul, and jazz.

Did I mention that this is a FREE Download? Well, it is, and you can grab it here. Tracklisting is below.

Finally, check out this short video on the making of the project:

Shout out to Nao Media & Consulting for the heads up on this one.
