Lots of good bands will be playing SXSW this year. Here are the members of the black rock and black alt fam who'll be representing

If I were going to be in Austin this year, here are some of shows I’d have on my list to decide between.  And I really mean that: With 2,000 artists performing, there’s no way you’re going to make a dent in all the killer acts there.  However, knowing is half the battle.  So, on that note, here’s my list, done in no particular order):

  • Fishbone
  • Bad Brains
  • Ebony Bones
  • Born In Flames Tour (feat. Tamar-Kali, Jean Grae, Invincible + Waajeed)
  • Year of The Dragon
  • The Memorials
  • ELEW
  • Freedom or Death
  • J*Davey
  • Tecla
  • Valerie June
  • Fifth Nation
  • Animals As Leaders
  • Kokayi
  • B L A C K I E all caps no spaces

  • Talib Kweli
  • Toro Y Moi
  • Twin Shadow
  • Wu-Tang Clan
  • Khaira Arby
  • P.O.S.
  • TV On The Radio
  • Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears
  • HOTTUB
  • Zion I & the Grouch
  • Meklit Hadero
  • The Dears
  • Odd Future (just to see what all the hype’s about)
  • Shad*
  • The Bellrays*
  • Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group (The Mars Volta)
  • Aceyalone
  • Nerdkween

Check the SXSW Scheduler to get more info on any of these performers.
