THIS WEEKEND: EMP Pop Conference (LA) — Feb 25-27

Showcasing the study of popular music in every guise, past and present.

If you’re in LA and are a music head, you should definitely check out this event.  Did I mention it’s FREE?  Online registration is now closed so, if you’re thinking about going, get there early.

Two-and-a-half days of folks talking critically about music.  Everyone from the LA Times’ Ann Powers to fam like URB Mag’s Raymond Roker, NYU’s Tavia Nyong’0 and Jason King; and Princeton’s Daphne Brooks and Imani Perry, to name only a few.

More info and a full schedule for the 2011 EMP Pop Conference is here.
