When I talk about the full spectrum of black musical expression, I’m including a whole range of sounds, including those produced by an artist like Atlanta’s Nerdkween aka Monica Arrington. You may recall Monica from a quick interview I did with her a few years ago. She traffics in low-fi, quiet, alt-folk. Her music is ethereal, breathy and reminds me of Cowboy Junkies.
This is a track from her latest album, profitandloss. You’ll hear a guitar, and a voice seemingly distant, as if over an old radio. Lovely.
