REVIEW: The King Meets The President In Africa

Something to start your weekend off on the good foot.

I have to give my undying props to DJ and producer Rich Medina for this incredible mashup of two musical giants, Michael Joseph Jackson and Fela Anikulapo Kuti.  What’s nice, sonically, is to hear Michael’s voice–both as a man and as a member of the Jackson 5–over Fela’s Afrobeat shuffles and horn punctuations.  I wouldn’t miss  “Human Nature vs.  I No Get Eye For Back,” but tracks like “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough (Who Are You?)”, “Beat I.T.T.” , “Billie Jean Is Shakara” and the bangin’  “Thriller Zombie” more than make up for that.

Seriously, though, if you download this at the office, you might have trouble getting work done.  Start to finish, it was a great idea and I’m glad that I discovered it.  This album’s been out since June, so y’all know where to send that late pass, thank you.
