LISTENING POST: Sandra St. Victor — "FMAO-city"

Ssv_400x400

While we're waiting for the latest album from The Family Stand to drop (check out some tracks here and here), you can get a taste of what the Mack Diva herself has been cooking up in her lab in the Netherlands.  This song is part of an EP she's done with producer Marc de Clive-Lowe called Sandra St. Victor's Sinner Child "At My Spheres".  This dance-oriented project may be a slight departure for fans of TFS, but it's really no surprise given St. Victor's soulful and volcanic vocal ability.  Of the tracks on the EP, this one has a nice rock edge and I likes!

Stateside folks will have a chance to see her in August at Blues Alley in DC and the Blue Note in NYC. In September, she'll be at BAMCafe on the 25th.
