Listening Post: Death–"Politicians In My Eyes"

Death_main

From The Fader:

In 1975, Death, the trio of Hackney brothers from Detroit, recorded an
album. Predating Bad Brains by about half a decade, Death were an all
black punk group shredding up north. In the band's lifespan they were
able to release one 45, for "Politicians in My Eyes," before breaking
up and essentially being lost to history (and insanely rich and reckless record collectors) until a family member found the tapes in an attic and Drag City decided to release the album, …For the World to See. The album is out February 17th and this is the first single.

This made me think of that other Detroit rock band, Black Merda, who was active in the late 60s and early 70s.  Two bands to definitely add to the timeline I'm developing.

Anyway, shout out to Afro-punk for the heads-up on this.

Just heard of these cats on CBC Radio One (a coanuck radio station) the other day. Holy sheeps! Someone was playing stuff like this back then? ’75, I was listening to Sabbath, and there was no speed licks in that stuff. Can’t wait to hear this album. Wish to god I knew where they are going to go with this tour. Cheers for posting this. I really needed to hear this tune again.
