BRC Takes Over the Whitney Museum

One of the things BRC Director of Operations Darrell McNeill mentioned during our CMJ showcase was the then upcoming BRC residency at the Whitney Museum in NYC.  Unfortunately, I missed the kickoff event last Friday with the BRC Orchestra.  Anyway, here's the deal:

Every Friday in November, the BRC will present a series called “Experiments in Color Negatives: A Reconstruction of Southern Black Music”.  The series ties in the retrospective of Memphis photographer William Eggleston.

November 14
California King performs the music of Al Green

November 21
Soul Cycle performs the music of Booker T & the Mgs

November 28
Brazz Tree performs the music of Otis Redding

All shows start at 7pm and admission is pay-what-you-will.

The Whitney is located at 945 Madison Avenue @ 75th Street

And leave it to fellow traveler and southern music champion Kandia Crazy Horse to provide both eloquence and context for the series.  Please do check it out if you have time.
