What’s going on Saturday?
No Age @ Death By Audio – July 11, 2008 (piratehat) today in NYC * FREE * DANCE * Wye Oak @ Union Hall * The Crimea @ Cake Shop * Bon Jovi in Central Park * Brooklyn Hip Hop…
Did The Noisettes cancel or did they play early? Seems unlikely since I’m pretty sure they’re bigger than Ramos and Little Jackie, but I never heard official word about them not appearing.
Hmm. Not sure. After The Dirtbombs, I did quick interview with James, Nerdkween and Maya Azucena, and then I was out. If you get the real deal, I’d appreciate it if you’d pass it along. Thanks!
Hey Rob, How was it? I was so wanting to see Sophia, it’s been a looong time. It was such a great line-up, unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it.
I look forward to your interviews…
The last band was def The Dirtbombs and I left shortly thereafter, too. Still nothing ‘official,’ but one site said The Noisettes had visa issues and couldn’t appear.
Bruva Rob,
just a note to say thankyou for all you do. because of your work, i’ve been able to discover great artists like Tamar-kali, Apollo Heights and Danielia Cotton. my old friend Bob Davis @ soulpatrol.com sings your praises. really wish i could have been in the city for this one; maybe next year
keep on keepin’ on,
bookerman
Bookerman, thank you so much for your kind words. It’s really great to know that the work that I’m doing is having positive ripple effects out there in the world. Re: Afropunk. Stay tuned for some photos and videos from some of the happenings this past weekend. Please give my best to Bob when you talk to him.
Warm regards.
CL: Thanks for the update. I’d originally thought that The Noisettes were going to do a night time show, which would’ve been hot. If the rumors are true, then that’s a bummer that they had visa problems. Kind of an unfortuate sign o’ the times that it seems like it’s getting tougher for foreign artists to gain entry to the US.
