Lucky Dube, international reggae star, killed in Johannesburg

Luckydube

He was killed on Thursday by carjackers as he was dropping off his kids.  This is stunning on a couple of levels.  First, it’s a sad and deep loss for music worldwide.  Second, back in my PR days, I did some work on one of his albums that was being released through Motown.  It was either Victims or House of Exile.

Anyway, I have to give a major hat tip to Kofi Annan for the heads-up, who has more links and details on his site.

I deeply regret to hear that our one and only lengend of reggea in the world, Lucky Dube died this week. I still hear his voice calling, miles away from the clouds “Let the whole world be in peace”. Lucky Dube may your soul rest in peace, like 2Pac said, “there’s a heaven for a Gee” You kept it real in Africa, and the entire world. You inspire me through many of your songs like, Victims, Slave, Freedom Fighter, The way it is, and many more which I can not list right now. You will forever be remembered by me, Africa, and the world. And whoever took your life may God take Avenge upon him twice as hard in return.
We all love you and hope to see you in heaven when God calls us home. You are my hero, and the king of reggae in the world.
